Stock management is an integral part of Elementary POS and one of the most requested features of the application. SKU codes are used to manage stock items. In the Back Office, you can check your inventory, manage turnover, stock up items, take inventory, and perform many other activities.
So, what is an SKU code?
An SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) code is a unique combination of numbers and letters that identifies a stock item. Unlike EAN codes, which are used on barcodes that can be read globally, SKU codes can be customized according to your specific needs. If the user assigns both an EAN and an SKU to a product, the barcode scanner will recognize it. You can introduce the nomenclature so that you and your workers are familiar with it.
SKU Codes in Elementary POS: How Do They Help You?
As soon as a user assigns an SKU to a sales item, Elementary POS begins to register the sales item as a stock item. This provides access to valuable information that can benefit your business.
- Export Profit Calculation: From the Elementary POS office (Menu -> Stock Status -> Calculate Sales and Profit), you can determine the most profitable items. For this to be possible, the item must be registered in stock, including the purchase price. This registration requires an SKU code.
- Stock Control: You can plan the delivery of goods in advance and avoid stock outages.
- Low Stock Notifications: Set up notifications to alert you when stock is running low, so you can restock in time. Low-stock items will be highlighted in the office.
- Quick Stock Control: Manage inventory and stocking via mobile devices.
- Create Combinations of Items: You can create recipes, packs, menus, sets, etc. For example, you can store a barrel of beer and sell it in units you determine. The corresponding quantity is always deducted from your stock
